Mercy Villas

Upper Hutt

Thanks to the vision of the Mercy Sisters, and their awareness to the needs of the local community, in 1975, twelve spacious one-bedroom homes for pensioners were built on a site close to the town centre. In the intervening years, a further twenty-nine homes have been added culminating in a total of forty-one homes spread across a large, well established, park like garden setting.

The mission of the Board of Mercy Villas’ is to provide quality, affordable rental housing that allows residents to live independently, yet in a holistic, relational environment that cares for vulnerable older whānau. Mercy Villas as a community is more than four walls. It’s a place of opportunity, a place where new friendships can be made, a place to be at peace and a home where individuals are supported. Residents are provided with the opportunity to connect with each other, with numerous opportunities created for residents to come together for a good cup of tea and a variety of activities each week..
